Public Sector Financial Management Accreditation in Pakistan Ceremony Public Sector Financial Management Accreditation in Pakistan Ceremony

January 2017: The FATA Secretariat and the Government of Balochistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants ACCA to develop a Public Financial Management (PFM) Accreditation Program. The MOU was signed by the Secretaries of Finance and Planning from FATA and Balochistan and Additional Auditor General of Pakistan.

The KP government is also planning a similar initiative.

Under the MoU, a professional PFM certification specific to the governments' needs will be developed and delivered. This will support the development of requisite PFM expertise within the public sector by improving the knowledge base of government employees through provision of a certified education program. The ACCA certification will give international recognition to the qualification. MDTF’s Governance and Policy Projects (GPPs) will support the development and delivery of the programme targeting over 500 government officials, civil society representatives, and parliamentarians in the coming years.

This ground breaking initiative builds on the support provided by MDTF’s Governance Support Project in Round 1.

This first Accreditation Program in the public sector in Pakistan will provide a portfolio solution to monitor investments by development partners in the public sector and will further strengthen donor harmonization for aid effectiveness, and  the government's own development investments.
